The Challenge
This client was looking for a structure that could:
- Perform year-round in Alberta’s climate
- Provide wide access openings while maintaining structural integrity
- Create a usable covered exterior space without compromising design
The Solution
Rather than layering design onto a basic shell, the team built the character directly into the framework:
- We integrated structural timber elements into the building system, not added as decoration.
- To increase usable square footage and protect equipment from Alberta’s elements, we extended the roofline and covered the concrete apron around the building.
- We positioned large overhead openings to support workflow, access, and visibility.
