Hugh Ziprick

Hugh Ziprick

RETIRED

Hugh Ziprick is one of the original founders of Vantage Builders Ltd.  One day back in 1975, he and Jim Davis started the company with the hope that it would do well enough to put food on their dinner table. Over four decades later Hugh says he never dreamed the company would reach the level it has. Hugh will gladly tell you stories of the days when Jim, Walter and he would play cards all hours of the day until they got the call to go out and do some work. Times have obviously changed very much since then, and Hugh retired in January 2021 after 46 years in business. While he was at Vantage, Hugh’s role grew exponentially as Vantage Builders established roots within the community and built an impressive portfolio of new builds and renovations both in the area and all over the province.  Hugh primarily dealt with commercial building sales and submitted the majority of any tender applications, among other managerial roles and responsibilities. He and his wife Linda have three children and ten grandchildren all in Vegreville & Smoky Lake.  Hugh has an active involvement with his church, never passes up an opportunity to spend time with his family, go hunting, fishing or to their cabin at Carrot Creek.

Walter Gegolick

Walter Gegolick

RETIRED

Walter Gegolick, also known as “Sonny”, joined the company in 1976, just one year after its conception and worked for Vantage for 29 years before becoming a partner in 2005. After completing the Architectural Technology program at NAIT, he began his career at Brytex doing blueprints for a year and a half before coming to Vantage. Here, he started off doing blueprints and working in sales. At the time Vantage primarily sold grain bins, farm buildings and small commercial buildings. Over the last 46 years, the company has evolved into a multi-faceted general contractor and Walter now focuses on commercial building sales with projects all over Central and Northern Alberta, as well as traditional managerial roles and responsibilities. He is extremely proud of the heights the company has reached over the last four decades and believes the company will continue to make a positive impact in our community and the surrounding areas where we work. Walter and his partners have made it a priority to operate the company with strong morals and an open-door policy where all its staff feel like family. Since retiring in 2024, Walter and his wife, Edie, enjoy motorcycling, back-country exploring, snowmobiling, fishing and spending time at their cabin at Elinor Lake. Their family includes their three married sons and eight grand kids whom all live in Vegreville, and who all keep them very busy.
